Select Harvesting
Select Harvesting with the Neuson 104HVT + AFM 45
Precision forestry with a lighter footprint.
At Paxton Ridge, we bring modern European harvesting technology to British Columbia’s forests. Our Neuson 104HVT self-levelling harvester paired with the AFM 45 harvesting head is purpose-built for select harvesting, wildfire risk reduction, and steep-slope forestry.
Unlike conventional feller-bunchers that rely on brute size, the Neuson is designed for agility, low impact, and surgical precision. Its self-levelling carriage keeps the operator safe and the crane geometry ideal—even on slopes up to 25° forward and 15° side-to-side. That means more control, higher accuracy, and safer operations in terrain where traditional machines struggle.
The AFM 45 Advantage
-
Max cut diameter: 26″ (650 mm)
-
Four-knife delimbing, four-motor feed for smooth, accurate processing
-
Lightweight head (≈2,100 lb) ideal for 12–14 t harvesters
This head delivers the versatility needed to thin selectively while preserving crop trees and reducing stand damage.
Smaller, Lighter, Gentler
The Neuson 104HVT with AFM 45 weighs just ~33,000 lb. By comparison, a Tigercat 830 feller-buncher tips the scales at ~72,000 lb. That’s a difference of nearly 40,000 lb—over 50% lighter. Combined with a compact width of just 2.55 m (8′4″) versus the Tigercat’s 3.7 m (12′), our setup:
-
Cuts narrower trails through the forest
-
Minimizes soil compaction and root damage
-
Leaves more standing timber healthy and undisturbed
